Posting expires on 01/01/2025

Research Site:
University of MInnesota - Twin Cities

Type of Research:
Education

Department:
Pediatrics

This opportunity does not have a stipend.

Description:
The pediatric clerkship has recently modified its evaluation methodology, moving from a norm-referenced grading policy with exam performance contributing to the grade to a criterion-referenced system with the exam as a threshold element only. This research project will explore the impact of this change.

Questions will include: How did these changes affect who received an Honors grade? How did these changes affect grade distribution at different sites and across the clerkship? How did these changes impact exam preparation and performance? How did these changes affect engagement with the curriculum? How did these changes affect Match success in Pediatrics for UMN students? How did these changes affect student satisfaction with the clerkship? How did these changes affect Step II, CK performance?

This project will offer trainee investigators the opportunity to engage with an existing dataset in a flexible timeframe and work at their own pace to produce an academic product with faculty collaboration and support.

Please contact Molly Wyman, MD, Director of Medical Student Education in Pediatrics, fans0017@umn.edu if you are interested in this research project.
