Posting expires on 01/01/2025

Research Site:
University of MInnesota - Twin Cities

Type of Research:
Education

Department:
Pediatrics

This opportunity does not have a stipend.

Description:
As part of the EPAC project, pediatric educators at the University of Minnesota built a first-of-its-kind Pediatrics-centric longitudinal clerkship. At this point, 14 students have completed their foundational clinical training in this longitudinal clerkship. This research project will investigate the effects of this training approach on the students who completed it.

Questions will/could include: How did the EPAC students perform on shelf examinations compared to other longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) and traditional block clerkship (TBC) students? How did the EPAC students perform on step II, CK/CS compared to other longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) and traditional block clerkship (TBC) students? How did the student satisfaction with this curriculum compare to  other longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) and traditional block clerkship (TBC) students? How did EPAC students trained with this curriculum compare to longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) and traditional block clerkship (TBC) students who entered the UMN pediatric residency training program?

This project will offer trainee investigators the opportunity to engage with an existing dataset in a flexible timeframe and work at their own pace to produce an academic product with faculty collaboration and support.

Please contact Patricia Hobday, MD, EPAC Clerkship Director, hobd0007@umn.edu, if you are interested in this research project.
